Trabzon City Tour
Overview
After greeting our guests at the departure points, we begin our city tour journey with onboard commentary. As we head towards the Soğuksu Mevkii in Trabzon, we have a panoramic view of the Gülbahar Hatun Mosque, the Inner Castle, and the Zağnos Valley. We continue through the forest of fir trees and visit the Atatürk Pavilion, which was originally owned by a Greek businessman and later gifted to Atatürk by the people of Trabzon. Along the way, we take a short walk in the Trabzon Botanical Garden. We then visit the Trabzon Hagia Sophia, built during the Komnenos Kingdom period between 1238 and 1265, known for its Christian frescoes on the western facade. Afterward, we have the opportunity to see local handicrafts unique to Trabzon, such as Trabzon Straw Matting, Filigree, and Kazzaziye, a craft practiced by only five families in Trabzon, and we offer some free time for shopping.
Next, we visit Sera Lake, which was formed in 1950 after heavy rainfall in Trabzon caused large rocks to fall from the valley, blocking it. At the restaurant near the lake, we enjoy local dishes, including the famous Akçaabat meatballs, kaygana, kuymak, pickled sauté, and stuffed grape leaves. After lunch, guests who wish can take a bike tour around the lake. We then ascend to Boztepe, where we can enjoy a panoramic view of the entire city of Trabzon and sip our tea from a traditional samovar. After spending some free time there, we return to the city center and conclude our Trabzon tour.
